You Should Hire A Live Performer For Your Wedding. Here’s Why…

Most brides have one thing in common. No matter their style, the length of their guest list, or their budget. They all have the same bottom-line priority:

They want their wedding to be memorable.

And they want their guests to have a good time.

Most people think the easiest way to do this is to keep a steady stream of booze flowing. Alcohol can definitely help loosen inhibitions and inspire movement on the dance floor. But it’s more of a fool-proof plan to plan something truly unique for your wedding. And then have the drinks amplify that experience. Rather than rely on the drinks to carry the event for you.

And, aside from that, not everyone wants to have drinks at their wedding. But they still want their guests to have an amazing time.

An easy way to do that? Hire a live performer as a surprise for your guests.

This may seem a little off-the-wall… but a live performance is like having your very own hype man for your wedding.

The right DJ can have this impact. But the trend of renting a P.A. and creating a Spotify playlist is getting more and more popular as a money-saving technique. And, believe it or not, live performers are usually much more affordable than a DJ.

So why not go the extra mile? Performers on GigSalad in the Chattanooga surrounding area are usually only a few hundred dollars.

Still not convinced? Here are a few specific ideas to get you excited:

Hire A Break Dancer

Alright, picture this scene. Dinner has been eaten. Everyone has had a cocktail or two. The music is blasting but only a few people are on the dance floor. The rest of the crowd is mingling and feeling a little shy. Then… without warning... the beat drops. The lights lower. And a crew of breakdancers enters the scene. Everyone turns their heads and rushes to the dance floor to watch. Energy is high. The breakdancers encourage the audience to participate. The next thing you know, everyone is on the dance floor.

Hire a Saxophonist

A solo saxophonist? Really? Yes, really! Hire a saxophonist who can accompany your DJ music. You can still play your favorite music (cha-cha slide included!). The saxophonist will accompany the DJ music and be boogie-ing down on the dance floor while he plays. I’ve seen a mother-in-law or two heavily swoon at the smooth funk performances from a saxophonist. This kind of thing is ALWAYS memorable!

Hire a Fire Dancer

But first, make sure your venue has an outdoor area clear from low-hanging trees and branches. This one may sound a little risky, but professional fire dancers always bring a fire marshall with them. They're also insured to up to a million dollars worth of damage. You’ll get a fire-swallowing choreographed jaw-dropping performance. They’ll even coordinate the performance to your favorite songs. One of my client's favorite memories from her wedding was her 2-year old nephew clutching her hand, and staring in awe at the fire dancers, and whispering “Oooo dragon people!”.

And if it rains? The show must go on! They’ll just switch to LED. Something like this is a great option for a smaller wedding if you’d like a “dinner and a show” feel.

Hire a Stunt Performer

STUNTIN’ at your wedding. This can mean a lot of things. It can mean aerial performers. It can mean parkour-like flips and tricks. It can mean belly dancing. It’s really the bride’s preference here! You can structure it in a way that they have a “show” section of the evening. Or they can just integrate within the crowd, and almost become a unique kind of “living decor”

Hire Era-Specific Performers

Are you a flower child of the 60s at heart? Find the Great Gatsby roaring 20’s era endlessly romantic? Dreaming of a Disney princess wedding?  You can hire themed live music. From Motown to British Invasion. From Beehives to Britney Spears. If live music is your jam, give it a little something extra. It’ll be a great conversation starter for your guest.

Hire An Artist

This is not exactly a “performer” per se. But it can be special to hire an artist to capture the artful beauty of your day in real-time. Think of it almost like a court artist. But much more romantic. They’ll set up an easel during your ceremony and reception. Two unique pieces of art will be inspired by the beauty and love all of your wedding. You’ll be able to display the art in your home alongside your wedding photos.

Where do I hire these types of performers?

The short answer? Gig-salad. There is no shortage of amazing performers for hire- for a super reasonable price! Chattanooga is perfectly situated between Atlanta, Knoxville, and Nashville. So you can choose from some of the best talent pools in America. Most everyone is willing to travel for a reasonable travel fee. If you need help finding any performers or weeding through the pile, I’m your girl. I love handling the correspondence! And if the performance is a surprise, you can count on me to coordinate their set-up in the background while you live your day to its fullest.
