Best Cake In Chattanooga: Sweet Angel Cakes
Want your wedding cake to be designed by an award-winning chef?
If so, you’ve found your vendor.
Toni Doster Repko, owner of Sweet Angel Cakes was the winner of the 2011 Chattanooga Cake Ace competition. The competition was judged by Chef Duff Goldman of Food Network/Ace of Cakes TV show. She competed against 12 other local bakers...and won!
Being a business owner came naturally to Toni. She’s been in management positions since she was 18 years old. She has thrived in this role. Toni gets things done, while still having time to spend with her kids. She takes fewer orders every summer so that she can spend more time with her children.
She also makes sure to donate her skills when possible. You can often find her cakes donated to local teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.
She loves working in the wedding industry. But more specifically, the Chattanooga wedding industry. Toni says, “At first it is hard to get to know other vendors and make connections. But once you do you realize how many great wedding vendors are in our little Chattanooga town.”
We have to agree! The Chattanooga wedding community is one-of-a-kind. We love working here... and working with Toni!
Meet the Baker
Toni is not just a cake baker… she’s a cake artist.
She’s been baking since she was just a girl of 7, but solidified her skills at the Wilton School in 2000. Her skills have only grown since then. Toni left her corporate job at the Krystal Company 17 years ago. She's been growing her business ever since. It started small. Fellow moms at her kid’s birthday parties admired her work and hired her for their birthday parties. But the business quickly grew. And now she’s one of Chattanooga’s most well-respected bakers.
She’s flawlessly executed cakes for hundreds of local brides. But, a true family-woman, Toni’s favorite memories are designing cakes for her own family. Giving the gift of cake to her sweet angels is something that she cherishes.
Who should work with Sweet Angel Cakes?
Toni gushes about the brides that she’s worked with. She has fond memories of every single one of them. She describes:
“Brides are my favorites! I love working with brides that trust us to make small detailed decisions. Who allows us to make final calls on what we think will look best, while also incorporating their vision.”
Sweet Angel Cakes will also be a good fit for you if you have any unique ideas or special requests. They once made a “stuffed pig” cake. The pig (nicknamed Wilbur) had an apple in its mouth and was resting on a bed of lettuce. The entire thing was made of cake and icing.
She also once helped a bride play a practical joke on her new husband. The groom was a huge Alabama fan. So much so that he wanted his groom’s cake to have an Alabama theme. The bride called ahead to say that she only wanted the outside of the cake to be Alabama-themed… the inside would be a surprise. She wanted the inside to be an orange and white checkerboard. The look on the groom's face when he cut-in was priceless.
